Thoughts From the Coffee Table: Why are we still talking about “The Box?” Does it even exist anymore?
I’ve been thinking a lot about limitations. I believe “The Box” is really a set of limitations we create ourselves.
Why do we limit ourselves? Fear? Protection? Inability to see farther? Dream bigger?
I have been immersed in the details of our app launch, loving every minute of the frenzy. I am excited about each milestone and all the things we have coming in the weeks and months ahead to make the “Shock Your Potential App” a dynamic resource for professional development training.
We have mountains of content, a flurry of spreadsheets of what will be released every day between now and the end of the year, and a boatload of projections that we made months ago.
The problem? We beat our 6-week projections in the first 10 days of launch.
Why is this a problem, you ask?
Because I want to know why I projected too low. Why did I build a box that was too small?
When we sandbag projections, (think under-promise, over-deliver) we sell ourselves short. When we don’t recognize our own value (think lack of confidence) we don’t allow ourselves to reach farther. We build invisible walls that trap and confine. We can’t grow to our full potential inside it.
It’s time to destroy the box.
