Thoughts From the Coffee Table: Cleanliness is next to….the devil in the details.
One of my brother-in-laws is coming to visit! Throughout the week the hubby and I have been tidying up the house to prepare. This morning, putting the finishing touches on the bathrooms and kitchen I was struck by something I do at the very last minute each time we are expecting people. I fill the soap dispensers.
Until this morning I have never really thought about why I do this religiously, and why, after they are refilled, that I am more likely to use the refill package to wash my hands rather than risk a reduction in the dispenser.
I think it has to do with a sense of showing that you really do care enough to make sure tiny details, likely unimportant to our guest, are considered.
I am working on a project right now that is consuming my mind and energy, mostly because I am cognizant of the tiny details that are important to get it right the first time. I am trying to balance that focus with the need to just get going, and allowing some mistakes. That is a tightrope for me. I can overanalyze anything to death if allowed.
So today, as practice, I am going to use every soap dispenser in the house, leaving all less than perfect!
Until I run to refill them all at the sound of the doorbell…
