Thoughts From the Coffee Table: I recently asked someone to share the best customer experience they have been the recipient of. I ask this question of all my podcast guests, the people I interview for my virtual conferences, and of random strangers.
He responded by saying “Isn’t it terrible that you ask me for a positive experience and all that comes to mind are the several horrible experiences I’ve had recently?”
Yesterday, while driving through NM, a truck pulled up with this sign. Besides scaring me out of my mind, I thought “Wouldn’t it be great if toxic people had a sign like this so that you could simply avoid them?”
I know that is not possible, but if you were labeled this way physically, would it cause you to change? Or would you embrace your toxicity?
The ever-optimist in me says most people would want to change. And according to author and speaker on the study of happiness Sean Achor, we CAN actually change people. For the good.
Today I challenge myself. Find 3 random people who look or act cranky. Compliment them. Suck it up if they don’t put their best foot forward.
Instead of running from the toxic, run towards it. Even for one day.
