Thoughts From the Coffee Table: I grabbed my shoes on the way downstairs, dropped them on the floor for a moment and came back to put them on. Only to find that I had brought 2 different shoes.
What really cracked me up was that I brought a left and right shoe.
I haven’t traveled much this summer, instead dedicating time to my books and a couple of other large projects. I have revitalized several of my “while at home” routines such as a morning walk, my morning smoothie, the habit of constant water hydration, and sitting on my yoga ball instead of an office chair.
But preparing to leave on a week-long trip threw me. Beside the shoe issue I forgot toothpaste, almost left without my almonds, and didn’t grab an apple at the airport.
I did, however, remember my water bottle, allowing me to keep hydrated through flight.
As I get back into the swing of time changes and the joys of travel, I know I need to slow down. Be mindful. Create new mental patterns.
And although I didn’t want to, I got my butt to the hotel gym this morning. (OK, because my hubby prompted me) And while trying not to die on the elliptical I realized that I need to create new morning travel routines and not slip into poor habits.
Like sleeping in. Or choosing to be lazy.
