Thoughts From the Coffee Table: He wakes up in the morning. Does his teeth. Bite to eat, and he’s rolling. Never changes a thing.
Happy Hour dinner at a local Brazilian steakhouse. $10 for a caipirinha and bacon-wrapped filet skewers. Surrounded within moments by 10 regulars.
They must have lived in the apartments upstairs, perfect for retirees loving the city life. Except I don’t think they were loving anything. The cranky factor was high, and I watched at they gave slights to Anthony. The bartender. Their lifeline to a $5 martini.
Anthony was superb to watch. He knew their orders. He worked the room. His smile never slipped or looked forced even while their tones were demanding and often rude. He deserves an Academy Award!
I coach sales people to be their best. To remember the customer and to be focused on them. But how much can any one person take from rude customers?
Anthony has found a way to run in circles for them, much like an ant I saw on my way home, literally running in circles. His quality of character and professionalism is exquisite. I would have stayed longer to watch except I might not have stayed so polite.
Perhaps I should have pulled the fire alarm on the way out to save him.
But I think he would walk back into the fire. To save cranky little ants marching.
