Thoughts From the Coffee Table: How can I have fallen so far so fast? It seems like just yesterday I was Diamond with Delta. This year just lowly Gold. I walk past those with their first class upgrades with barely checked envy.
Ok, I am being a little melodramatic.
Yet I feel like I lost something. Until I flew from MSP to SEA on the 22nd. The caliber of the cabin crew was out of this world!
I was nervous heading on this trip to take care of my grandchildren. I was preparing for 10 days, many of them all by myself, with a 3.5 and 1.5 year old while my son got some much needed R & R.
Ok, I wasn’t nervous. I was terrified!
While chatting with Joseph, he learned of the reason for my trip, and soon his 3 colleagues did as well, thanks to him. April, Amanda and Jordan all checked in on me multiple times, telling me I would do great and could handle 2 tiny people on my own. And my coffee cup never ran dry.
The human connection was what I really craved that morning. The sense that others cared and supported. Knowing these people saw me as a person, not as a number.
And now that I am home (I survived!) I reflect.
I didn’t need an upgrade to feel special. Joseph, Amanda, April and Jordan proved it personally.
One cup of coffee at a time…
