Thoughts From the Coffee Table: There is something deliciously wonderful about being able to partake in childlike activities. Like making S’mores without having to be the responsible adult.
You know what I mean, right? When there are kids around you have to put the marshmallows on the sticks. You have to dole out the chocolate in equal amounts to ward off tears and hurt feelings. You have to be prepared to blow out the ones that catch on fire.
In other words, you have to be responsible.
Don’t get me wrong. I love all those things too, especially the glee and the happy sticky fingers and the giggles. But sometimes I long to just experience.
Last night at the closing dinner we got that opportunity. A massive S’mores pit was set up. Sticks, graham crackers and HUGE sections of Hershey bars! I’m talking 6 squares per S’more!
Watching hundreds of grown ups be kids was delightful. Serious business professionals laughing and smiling, not caring about their own sticky fingers.
Today I head home, still smiling, still tasting the treat. And determined to take a bit of that feeling home with me.
It will go nicely with the glob of marshmallow that I just realized was on my jeans.
