Thoughts From the Coffee Table: I am participating in a large conference at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. The fact that we are here is lucky enough as we were supposed to be in Naples, FL and that Marriott property was severely damaged by Irma.
The property is beautiful. Countless team members have proven a dedication to exceptional service, including the shoe shine man who is a miracle worker! And despite being off-season, there are multiple activities throughout the resort like 7am yoga. Which I slept through again today…
As I perfect my presentation on Shock the Upsell, my premise was proven this week in the Lantana Spa. Ask for me to buy one more thing, and I will. Make it genuine and compelling, and I will say yes. Make it important to me and prove that you care about me as much as the sale, and I walk away very happy. The spa team did that, and more.
I realize I am a a somewhat unusual consumer, but at our core we all want the same things. We want to be respected. We want to be cared about. We want positive experiences.
And some days we want a bath bomb. And lotion that smells like marshmallows.
