Thoughts From the Coffee Table: While at a taping of Rachel Ray last spring, Iron Chef Michael Symon was promoting the opening of his new restaurant, Angeline, at The Borgata in AC. Everyone won an overnight at the hotel and dinner for two.
Friday I finally had time to collect on this fabulous gift. The hotel and casino are gorgeous. Think Vegas casino with a more personal feel. Angeline’s however, was the star.
The hostess couldn’t find our reservation, but despite a packed place, found us a great table. Our server was the perfect mix of personality and professionalism.
But the food….oh the food….
Ricotta fresh and bright. Sweet and hot peppers. Eggplant Parmigiana. And Mom’s Lasagna. Amazing!
We reveled in a lovely Chianti, and ended with a luscious strawberry cake. Wow. Just wow.
Now to fess up. Chef Symon was there, and as my husband will tell you, I was jumping out of my skin. He went from table to table, meeting and greeting his guests. He made everyone feel like they were a guest in his home. I couldn’t wait to meet him!
His charm, unique laugh, and smile compete with the joy of his food. And a little known fact. He is a superior selfie taker!
Especially when stalked by a crazy woman in his own restaurant.
